RN, CDE, MA (Nursing)

Lucy was the senior diabetes nurse at Sydney Children’s Hospital from 2005 – 2017. She has extensive experience in helping children and their families manage type 1 diabetes. Lucy qualified as a paediatric nurse in the United Kingdom in 1997, and moved to Australia in 2005. She has extensive post-graduate training in diabetes and became a Nurse Practitioner in 2009.

Lucy has been a strong advocate for families and children with diabetes, ensuring they have access to the very best care. This led her to branch out into private practice in 2011 and has been travelling around Sydney to visit families in their home and a variety of practice settings to reduce the burden of living with a chronic disease ever since. Her expertise in managing diabetes in children and adolescents is well recognised and, she is often asked to speak at seminars and conferences about these age groups.

Her commitment to the diabetes community is demonstrated by giving up her own time to attend diabetes kids’ camps. She also supports organisations such as Diabetes Australia and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
